About The Position

START Center for Cancer Care is seeking a compassionate and technically skilled Radiation Therapist to join our Radiation Oncology team in San Antonio, Texas. This full-time, weekday opportunity is based in a high-volume, outpatient cancer care center known for delivering cutting-edge treatment with an unwavering commitment to patient care. In this role, the Radiation Therapist will administer prescribed radiation treatments under the direction of a Radiation Oncologist, ensuring precision, safety, and comfort for every patient. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Radiation Therapy or a related field.
  • Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or an equivalent credential.
  • Current Texas State License (or eligibility to obtain).
  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide emotional support to patients.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment with attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a clinical radiation oncology setting.
  • Familiarity with advanced techniques such as IMRT, SBRT, and brachytherapy.
  • EMR experience preferred (e.g., Aria, Epic, or similar platforms).

Responsibilities

  • Administer prescribed doses of radiation to patients using specialized equipment.
  • Position patients accurately to ensure effective and safe treatment.
  • Operate and maintain radiation therapy machines, ensuring functionality and safety compliance.
  • Monitor patients during treatments and report any adverse reactions or concerns to the medical team.
  • Educate patients and their families about the treatment process, potential side effects, and post-treatment care.
  • Collaborate with oncologists, medical physicists, Dosimetrists and other healthcare professionals to develop and modify treatment plans.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation of treatment sessions.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and radiation protection guidelines to minimize exposure risks.
