About The Position

The Radiation Therapist at Sharp Grossmont Hospital is responsible for performing procedures, setups, simulations, and prescribed treatments under the direction of the Radiation Oncologist, Physicist, or Lead Radiation Therapist to provide the highest level of care to Radiation Oncology patients. This position is full-time, with a shift starting at 8 AM and ending at 4:30 PM, and does not require weekend work but does require on-call availability. The role is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with SEIU-UHW, and employees are required to join the union within 31 days of hire.

Requirements

• Certified Radiation Therapy (T)(ARRT) - ARRT - REQUIRED.
• AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association - REQUIRED.
• Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) - CA Department of Public Health - REQUIRED.
• Satisfactory completion of formal training program in a JRCERT/CHEA approved school.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's Degree.
• 1 Year experience as a Certified Radiation Therapist in a physician's office or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform procedures, setups, simulations, and prescribed treatments under the direction of the Radiation Oncologist, Physicist, or Lead Radiation Therapist.
• Demonstrate initiative and teamwork.
• Follow instructions and work with minimal supervision; comply with work schedules and deadlines.
• Participate in department improvement by identifying concerns and offering solutions.
• Initiate supplies necessary for treatments and assist in maintenance of inventory in clinical area.
• Accurately charge billing for procedures and maintain cleanliness.
• Interpret and perform prescribed treatment plans and maintain pre-treatment and treatment records.
• Operate simulator/mold and treatment equipment and assist in preparation of weekly chart rounds.
• Fabricate immobilization/positioning and treatment devices.
• Photograph patients for documentation purposes.
• Achieve patient satisfaction targets through effective patient interaction.
