About The Position

The Radiation Therapist position is a PRN role located in Lisle, specifically within the Radiation Oncology department. The office hours are as needed, providing flexibility in scheduling. The position is based in Schaumburg, IL.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of an accredited course study in Radiation Oncology Technology.
  • Preferred ARRT(T) registered or meets eligibility requirements for examination; examination must be completed within six months of eligibility.
  • Licensure by State of Illinois - IEMA Division of Nuclear Safety.
  • Obtains continuing education credits as required.
  • Maintains CPR certification.
  • Prefer a minimum of one year of professional radiation therapist experience in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

  • Takes steps and follows procedures to secure and safeguard patient and confidential information.
  • Assesses patient's condition, age, size and other medical conditions to best determine if treatment can be performed within the prescribed plan.
  • Reviews radiation oncologist's prescribed dose prior to the administration of radiation; checks to ensure that prescribed doses are mathematically correct and consults with the radiation physicist and/or treatment plan as needed.
  • Assists and monitors patient during treatment; recognizes significant complications, notes problems, complaints or occurrences; notifies physician as needed.
  • Answers patient questions and provides emotional support as needed.
  • Operates specialized radiation therapy equipment; recognizes malfunctions and refers service as needed; selects technical factors per treatment plan.
  • May arrange patient transportation to and from the department to provide patient care.
  • Provides patient/significant other education and explanation of procedures being performed.
  • Explains waiting times in excess of established protocol.
  • Assists radiation oncologist/physicist with brachytherapy procedures.
  • Maintains records of treatments and doses administered according to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Performs chart checks as required; assists physicist with record keeping.
  • Will perform all other duties/responsibilities as assigned.

Benefits

  • Base pay range of $40.00-60.00, with actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity.
  • Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives.
  • Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
