The radiation therapist will administer ionizing radiation and radioactive substances to patients under the supervision of a Radiation Oncologist and in accordance with New York State Department of Health Code part 16 guidelines. In addition, the radiation therapist must operate high voltage machinery safely and accurately and communicate to pertinent personnel when malfunctions occur. The radiation therapist will always concern themselves with the welfare of the patient and will conduct themselves in a responsible and professional manner. Satisfactory completion of a training program in a Radiation Therapy Technology program in an AMA approved school, meeting the requirements for registry by the ARRT, and being licensed as a Radiation Therapist by the State of New York Department of Health is required.
