About The Position

ChristianaCare is hiring a full time Radiation Therapist II at our Helen F. Graham Cancer Center. Our mission is to provide safe, effective radiation treatments to our cancer patients. As a Radiation Therapist you would, under clinical supervision of the Chief, and the professional direction of a radiation oncologist performs various radiation therapy treatments and/or simulations at a technical level requiring minimal supervision of technical details. The department has a brand-new adaptive treatment: ETHOS. Varian ETHOS : “An AI driven radiation therapy system that delivers ‘Adaptive Intelligence’ to personalize cancer treatment. Treating with ETHOS allows for a real-time optimized daily treatment planning that improves accuracy of treatments delivered with reduced side effects."

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiation Therapy (CHEA, University-based)
  • 5 years of professional experience and/or employed a minimum of 3 years at Christiana Care Radiation Oncology
  • Board certification in Radiation Therapy Technology (ARRT)
  • State of Delaware licensure as Radiation Therapy Technology; may be requested to obtain Maryland license.

Responsibilities

  • Administers treatment or CT imaging with a Radiation Therapist II, through proper setup, positioning, machine preparation, and monitoring.
  • Keeps accurate documentation of treatment administration and CT imaging; concurs with Radiation Therapist II regarding treatment and/or CT imaging
  • Prepares and maintains scheduling of treatments, imaging procedures, simulations, and other appointments as appropriate.
  • Accurately documents services rendered and charges appropriately
  • Provides daily care and monitoring of patient's treatment tolerance, making necessary referrals.
  • Observes all safety rules for patients and staff per National Regulatory Commission (NRC)
  • Observes all hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Attends departmental meetings and in-services.
  • Fabricates custom blocks and molds as needed under the direction of a physician, dosimetrist, physicist, or Radiation Therapist II.
  • Cleans and maintains a clean and safe work environment.
  • Assists with maintenance of supplies.
  • Demonstrates skills and knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients , including age-appropriate interpretation and communication of patient needs.
  • Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices.
  • Reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
