SUMMARY : Administers targeted doses of radiation as prescribed by a radiologist to a patient to treat cancer and other diseases. Assists in preparing sealed radioactive materials, calculates actual treatment dosages, and prepares equipment such as immobilization, treatment, and protection. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : · Administers targeted radiation therapy to treat cancerous tumors as prescribed by radiologists and oncologists. · Positions patients with precision, operate advanced radiation therapy equipment, and ensure patient safety by adhering to radiation protection protocols. · Delivers compassionate care, monitoring patient responses, and collaborating with the healthcare team to achieve optimal outcomes. · Administers prescribed doses of radiation to targeted body parts, using radiation therapy equipment according to established practices and safety protocols. · Performs regular equipment checks of radiation therapy equipment to ensure proper functionality and troubleshoot issues as needed. · Maintains records, reports, or files required, including such information as radiation dosages, equipment settings, or patients' reaction. · Conducts treatment sessions independently, in accordance with long-term treatment plan and under the general direction of the patient's physician. · Enters data into computer and set controls to operate or adjust equipment or regulate dosage Observe and reassure patients during treatment and report unusual reactions to physician. · Adheres to TMC organizational and department-specific safety, confidentiality, values, policies, and standards. Performs related duties as assigned.
