About The Position

The Radiation Therapist Float position is a full-time role that operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with a travel requirement of 15K. The primary objective of this position is to administer daily external beam therapy to patients while accurately documenting clinical progress and dosage in accordance with established quality standards.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an AMA approved program in Radiation Therapy Technology.
  • Two years full-time clinical experience as a radiation therapist.
  • Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiation Therapy.
  • Current Maryland State License with current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Must have no disciplinary actions within the past 12 months for promotion to this level.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact smoothly and effectively with people.
  • Demonstrate calm, polite, and flexible behavior under stressful conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and executes proper simulation as designed by the physician, with assistance.
  • Understands and implements appropriate use of immobilization devices.
  • Provides Port films consistent with established quality standards.
  • Monitors patients for adverse reactions and notifies physician, implementing appropriate interventions as directed.
  • Monitors effective functioning of equipment daily and reports malfunctions to the physicist and/or manager.
  • Oversees daily warm-up and safety checks on all equipment.
  • Adheres to general safety, infection control, and radiation safety standards, wearing protective equipment as required.
  • Performs duties according to established standards for all age groups.
  • Confers with supervisor to recommend changes, report problems, and provide feedback to improve patient care, technical quality, safety, and clerical functions.
  • Provides reassurance to patients and families, explains procedures, instructs regarding home care during treatment per physician's orders, and provides general information to patients and families.
  • Maintains current license and participates in applicable educational activities regularly.
