Organization: Radiation Oncology/Therapists Job Summary: JOB SUMMARY The radiation therapist is an integral part of the radiation oncology treatment team. This person is responsible for the accurate delivery of therapeutic radiation treatments to patients and simulations for patient treatments under the direction of a radiation oncologist. The therapist must have a thorough understanding of the rationale for radiation therapy as well as skills in patient assessment and interpersonal communication. . Radiation Therapist - ARRT Certified Location: The Vanderbilt Clinic – Nashville, TN Full-Time Radiation Therapist Opportunity Vanderbilt Health is hiring a full-time ARRT-certified Radiation Therapist to join our Radiation Oncology team in Nashville, Tennessee. This Radiation Therapist role provides high-quality radiation therapy treatments for cancer patients using advanced radiation therapy equipment, including Varian Linear Accelerators. This position is ideal for an experienced Radiation Therapist or a newly certified Radiation Therapist seeking a strong clinical environment, consistent patient volume, and a collaborative oncology team.

Requirements

  • ARRT Certification in Radiation Therapy required
  • Strong communication and patient interaction skills
  • Ability to follow detailed clinical protocols with accuracy
  • Commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centered cancer care
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced radiation oncology clinic treating a high volume of cancer patients

Nice To Haves

  • Varian Linac experience
  • Experience with CT simulation
  • Experience with 3D, IMRT, IGRT, and image-guided radiation therapy procedures
  • Experience working in a radiation oncology department or cancer center

Responsibilities

  • Deliver daily external beam radiation therapy treatments as a Radiation Therapist
  • Operate Varian Linear Accelerators and assist with machine warm-up and quality checks
  • Perform CT simulation procedures and support 3D, IMRT, and IGRT workflows
  • Prepare immobilization devices and support patient setup for precise radiation therapy
  • Confirm treatment parameters and verify plans with dosimetry and physics teams
  • Complete accurate EMR documentation and maintain treatment records in the oncology information system
  • Ensure strict adherence to radiation therapy safety and quality assurance procedures
  • Provide patient education, emotional support, and clear communication throughout treatment
  • Collaborate with radiation oncologists, nurses, physicists, dosimetrists, and therapy staff
  • Assist with workflow improvements, patient scheduling, and daily clinic operations
  • Support pediatric and adult radiation therapy needs
  • Maintain a clean and safe radiation therapy treatment environment
  • Administers daily radiation therapy treatments to patients assigned to the treatment unit, accurately and efficiently, at a speed consistent with patient scheduling for pediatric, adult and geriatric patients.
  • Maintains records of daily treatment and other records as required.
  • Participates in orientation and training of all new radiation therapists to include treatment unit-specific procedures and protocols, on-call procedures, simulation procedures and protocols and provides feedback in a timely manner to clinic director.
  • Performs computed tomography (CT) simulation procedures and clinical simulations according to established department protocols.
