About The Position

SHINE Technologies is seeking a Radiation Protection Summer Intern. The Radiation Protection Intern will have general responsibilities to assist in implementation of Radiation Protection programs as designated by the SHINE Radiation Protection Manager within the scope of training provided by SHINE. The base wage range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00 per hour. Duties and Responsibilities: At the Discretion of the SHINE Radiation Protection Manager, Radiation Protection Intern scope may include: Work with the Radiation Protection Manager and Radiation Safety Officer to establish and implement radiation protection department policies, programs, and procedures. Propose process and design changes that improve radiological safety. Assist in the development of a Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and State of WI license applications and amendments. Donn protective clothing suitable for a laboratory radiological environment. Work with and under the guidance of Radiation Protection personnel to: Perform radiation and contamination surveys and decontamination work. Perform sampling and analysis of gases, liquids, and solids. Maintain radiation detection instrumentation, and other associated equipment. Document survey results and other radiological information. Perform observations of radiological work. Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Actively pursuing post-high school education in health physics, relevant engineering technology, or related physical science specialty
  • Familiar with Microsoft software
  • Eligibility for employment is conditioned on the applicant’s ability to qualify for access to information subject to U.S. Export Controls.
  • applicant’s eligibility may be conditioned based upon meeting the Nuclear Regulatory Commission requirements for access to Safeguards Information, which typically requires a pre-employment drug screen, fingerprinting and criminal background check.
