About The Position

BayCare Medical Group, the largest and most respected physician-led medical group in the Tampa Bay area, is recruiting a board certified or board eligible Radiation Oncologist to join our dedicated and compassionate BayCare Department of Radiation Oncology Caregiver Team. Candidates with clinical experience in proton therapy are desirable, but all candidates will be considered. The primary clinical practice location will be St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, Florida. St. Joseph’s Cancer Center was established in 1969 as the first radiation therapy center in Hillsborough County. St. Joseph’s is a hospital-based radiation center with two linear accelerators, a TrueBeam (2018) and Halcyon (2024), a Flexitron HDR afterloader (2024), and a Siemens CT simulator (2015). Further, a Mevion S250-FIT proton accelerator is being installed and will go-live in the 2 nd quarter of 2026. Treatment planning software includes Eclipse TPS, ARIA OIS, and MIM software. Annually, St. Joseph’s Hospital registers 1,600 new cancer cases and the cancer program is certified by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer and the American College of Radiology. There are plans to build a state-of-the-art BayCare Cancer Institute facility which will house Radiation Oncology, Hematology Oncology, Cancer Imaging, Breast Center, Research, and Laboratory with future space available for other therapeutic services. Construction on the St. Joseph’s campus is expected to start in Q4 2026. The BayCare Department of Radiation Oncology consists of four regional, hospital-based cancer centers located at St. Anthony’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL, St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa, FL, Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, FL, and Winter Haven Hospital in Winter Haven, FL. BayCare and Chicago-based Northwestern Medicine recently announced a strategic collaboration to expand and accelerate BayCare’s trajectory as an academic health system by improving access to advanced medical treatments, enhancing clinical research, and expanding training and education of current and future physicians at BayCare.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree.
  • Board certified or board eligible in Radiation Oncology.

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates with clinical experience in proton therapy are desirable, but all candidates will be considered.
