Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a DOE Q Clearance
  • DOE Order 426.2 compliance eligibility
  • Demonstrated ability to independently perform the full range of radiological support activities
  • Strong background in DOE 10CFR835 compliance and radiation protection procedures
  • Proven expertise in tactical decision making in dynamic, high-hazard environments
  • Ability to develop creative, independent solutions to complex radiological challenges
  • Availability for 24/7 rotating shift coverage including weekends and nights
  • High school diploma plus 4–6 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Subject to DOE Order 426.2 requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Broad knowledge across health physics and related disciplines
  • Experience authoring or reviewing radiological work control packages (RWCPs)
  • Active DOE Core Card and/or NRRPT certification
  • Strong communication skills with customers, technicians, and management
  • Ability to influence group outcomes through technical expertise and leadership
  • Additional certifications, technical training, or associate's degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for planning, coordination, and resolution of conflicting radiological control demands in challenging and high-hazard conditions
  • Act as subject matter expert for radiological work control packages (RWCPs), ensuring full compliance for all radiological work including high-hazard operations
  • Provide technical supervision, mentorship, and guidance to junior RCTs
  • Anticipate and resolve complex radiological problems independently, escalating only when scope demands it
  • Coordinate work area resources to support safe and efficient operations across teams
  • Demonstrate safety and compliance leadership through your actions and presence on the floor
  • Perform work outdoors, in PPE, and outside normal working hours as mission requires
  • Lift and carry radiation protection equipment as needed
