About the Callaway Energy Center The Callaway Energy Center is a nuclear facility located in mid-Missouri. The Energy Center has more than 800 employees and contractors working at the facility, and it has established a strong record of safe operation throughout its 30-year operating history. The Energy Center is a highly efficient, low-cost, sustainable source of electricity for Ameren Missouri’s 1.2 million customers. Position(s): 1 Hourly Rate Range: $42.26 Area/Div: 1813 Revision Date: 5/24/96 DUTIES: Under direct but not constant supervision and working on a rotating shift or straight shift schedule as required, to perform a variety of general labor and porter type work in all areas, both in and on all types of plant equipment and service facilities associated with potentially contaminated areas as well as assisting Rad/Chem personnel in performing their assigned tasks. In this connection to perform work such as, but not limited to, the following: 1. Decontaminate or clean all external, and as directed, the internal surface of plant equipment. Includes applying and removal of decontamination coatings. 2. Decontaminate and clean floors, walls, and ceilings. 3. Operate powered equipment associated with assigned work, including compactors. 4. Transfer chemicals, supplies, portable shielding, Rad/Chem supplies, drums and equipment as directed. This includes the operation of equipment required to accomplish the transfer. 5. Perform cleaning and transfer of respirators. 6. Perform laundry and dry cleaning duties. 7. Assist in erecting scaffolds and rigging for Rad/Chem activities. 8. When assigned to work as qualified, assist Rad/Chem Technicians or Assistant Rad/Chem Technicians in the full range of their work. This includes setting up containments or control points for maintenance activities. 9. Assist in radwaste activities (drum loading, chaining casks, removing and installing cask covers, etc.). 10. Properly drive a motor vehicle when directed or when required to perform his duties. 11. On an as needed basis, perform any other plant activity for which he is trained. SPECIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: To develop and maintain complete understanding of all facets of the plant emergency program and plant security system. To react as appropriate in the protection of the public in case of an operational emergency. To serve as an active participant in these programs.
