The Radiation & Environmental Safety Business Continuity Specialist at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California will assist in performing planning, developing and implementation of the business continuity and emergency management programs. The Business Continuity Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring the resilience of our organization by supporting the business continuity planning and disaster recovery efforts across our hospitals and system functions. This involves working closely with various departments to identify risks, develop and implement business continuity strategies, and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree: Emergency Management, Safety, Healthcare or other related field required.
• Master's Degree: Emergency Management, Safety, Healthcare or other related field preferred.
• Hospital Incident Command System Training including Incident Action Plan - Certificate required.
• Incident Command System Training (IS- 100, 200, 700, 800) required.
• Emergency management and/or business continuity certificate preferred.
• Two years previous experience with comprehensive Emergency Management, Business Continuity, Risk Management, or Continuity of Operations Planning, preferably in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Develops, implements, and maintains business continuity plans for the organization including clinical care, administrative, research, and other service line departments across multiple facilities.
• Conducts risk assessments and business impact analyses to identify critical functions, dependencies, and vulnerabilities within the organization and makes recommendations on courses of action.
• Develops and updates business continuity interdependency language for common services, such as laboratory, imaging, pharmacy, information technology, and other areas.
• Develops and implements continuity drills and disaster recovery exercises at the departmental and organizational level.
• Develops and provides training on business continuity and recovery.
• Maintains metric tracking on business continuity plans, drills, and exercises.
• Conducts after-action reports on emergency and business continuity drills and exercises.
• Identifies areas of opportunity for enhancements and implements changes.
• Provides regular updates and presentations for the Emergency Management and related committees.
• As needed or in cases of an emergency response, may perform or assist in planning, developing, and implementing the emergency management/disaster response programs.
• May assist in coordination and liaison with community, city, county, state, and federal agencies involved with disaster response and continuity.
• As needed or in cases of an emergency response, may perform or assist in the design, implementation, and presentation of preparedness programs for management and staff.
• May assist in the coordination of efforts for Department of Health Services, Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and The Joint Commission accreditation as it relates to emergency management and business continuity planning.
• As needed or in cases of an emergency response, may perform or assist with maintaining the Disaster Resource Center cache equipment.
• May assist with Special Pathogens Preparedness activities, including drills, hospital command center activations, and interagency coordination.
• Actively participate in organizational responses to actual and planned events.
• Staffs and supports the Hospital Command Center when activated.
• Participates in the hazardous materials response team, department’s on-call coverage, and mass-casualty decontamination team.
• Assists in maintaining the emergency mass-notification system, including customizations to facilitate business continuity.
