About The Position

The Radar Production Manager reports directly to the Operations Manager and ATM Business leadership and has administrative responsibility for the company’s production-related activities. Duties and Responsibilities: The Radar Production Manager is responsible for the initial resourcing and commencement of manufacturing, and subsequent management of all Radar production processes relating to a Radar product or Radar support function. He/she will coordinate with all internal functions (including purchasing, quality assurance and program management) to ensure that: (a) manufacturing activities are effectively planned and resourced to delivery Radar units on time, (b) Radar costs are monitored and controlled to ensure budgets are achieved, and (c) Radar achieve the highest standards of quality, safety, reliability and performance. In this capacity, the Radar Production Manager is responsible for: Planning the Radar technology transfer and production process for the Kansas facility, including commissioning of the production line, recruitment and training of resources, embedding IT, and identification and sourcing of assets. Interviewing, hiring and training employees (initially heavy interviewing to build a new team); Directs and enforces all company policies within their team, including health and safety, environmental, Security, 5S, ESD and Business & Employee Ethics. Champion and promote the Indra values. Lead the production team and carry out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures. Define goals, set expectations, and monitor performance in accordance with the company’s annual performance review process. Carry out disciplinary and dismissal actions as necessary. Mentor and coach direct reports. Ensure an effective succession plan is in place. Ensure all Radar are manufactured to the highest quality levels, and all Standard Operating Processes and Engineering specifications are adhered to. Support corrective actions (such as 8D) to resolve and prevent quality issues. Identify and implement process improvements utilizing LEAN and 6-sigma principles as appropriate. Monitor and maintain the Radar production plan to ensure sufficient resources are in place to achieve the customer’s delivery expectations. Adapt resources and resolve roadblocks as necessary to achieve on time in full delivery. Enforce accurate cost control within Radar production; ensure all employees are logging time and material bookings accurately, and rework costs are controlled. Manage the fixed assets of the Radar production line through the introduction of an effective preventative maintenance plan. Ensuring calibration records are maintained and all test equipment is within calibration. Work with Information Technology, Engineering and Production Engineering to ensure ERP, Test Systems, Serialization Records are all set-up and operating within an efficient, coherent and poke-yoke process, and enforce data accuracy and integrity. Set-up and monitor departmental Key Performance Indicators. Take necessary corrective actions to ensure metrics remain within budget or target. Liaise with the Quality function to identify persistent or costly quality issues relating to Radar. Work with Engineering to identify and implement resolutions to improve the production yield of Radar. Provide cover and support for operational colleagues and leadership. Perform other duties as defined by leadership as and when required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing the production line of a complex product in the electronics or aerospace/defense industry, including lean manufacturing operations.
  • Experience of leading a New Product Introduction and/or Technology Transfer within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong technical acumen developed either through a technical degree or 5+ years’ experience within a technical environment.
  • In depth knowledge of ERP systems, S&OP, MRP and scheduling tools.
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to communicate at all levels within a multi-national organization.
  • Ability to build, develop and coach a team focused on customer satisfaction, process improvement and a culture of engagement.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize several conflicting and complex tasks effectively.
  • Comfortable working in a highly demanding and complex environment.
  • Flexible working pattern: support all shifts and overtime as needed.
  • International and domestic travel is required from time to time for extended periods (specifically initially). Applicants must hold a valid passport.
  • Excellent computer literacy skills and working knowledge of Microsoft tools including Excel, Power BI, MS Project.

  • US citizen.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business, master’s degree or equivalent experience desired.
  • PMP certification desired.
