About The Position

The position involves operating the Relocatable Over The Horizon Radar (ROTHR) system, which is crucial for monitoring and tracking surface and air contacts to support the Navy's mission in detecting illicit activities. The role requires technical expertise in radar operations, ionosphere modeling, and communication systems, contributing to national security efforts.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of RADAR Operations or technical school experience.
  • Four years of applicable experience in radar operations.
  • Experience with Windows 10.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued DoD Secret security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Four years minimum radar experience.
  • Previous experience monitoring GCCS display system or similar tracking displays and HF radio transmissions.
  • Previous air defense, air controller, or OS experience.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the ROTHR RADAR system, primarily using PC-based platforms to monitor and track surface and air contacts.
  • Perform ionosphere propagation assessments by manually modeling the ionosphere's layers using PC-based resources.
  • Interpret ionospheric models to select appropriate RADAR parameters for effective detection and tracking of targets.
  • Monitor and modify RADAR resources to meet tasking parameters as necessary.
  • Assist ROTHR tracking software in validating and reporting aircraft and surface contacts within the RADAR coverage area.
  • Interpret RADAR returns to identify aircraft take-offs and landings.
  • Monitor and relay external communications information over HF radio links.
  • Interact with global command and communications station (GCCS) terminal for pertinent track data.
  • Receive technical guidance and tasking from supervisors or higher-level operators.
