Job Summary The Radiologic Technologist - Pain Management performs diagnostic and fluoroscopic imaging procedures to assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of patients undergoing interventional pain management procedures. The technologist ensures accurate imaging, radiation safety, and patient comfort in a clinical or outpatient setting. This role collaborates closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality care in accordance with established safety, compliance, and clinical protocols.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in general radiographic and fluoroscopic techniques, anatomy, and radiation safety principles.
  • Strong understanding of interventional imaging procedures and sterile technique.
  • Ability to effectively operate imaging and electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to support a collaborative clinical team environment.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure or urgent clinical situations.
  • Demonstrates professional integrity, initiative, and commitment to continuous learning.
  • Frequent standing, walking, and positioning of patients and equipment.
  • Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds and assist with patient transfers.
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity required to operate imaging equipment and perform precise positioning.
  • Clinical or outpatient procedural environment.
  • Exposure to radiation, bloodborne pathogens, and other clinical hazards; protective equipment provided.
  • May require variable hours or on-call coverage depending on facility needs.
  • Associate degree in Radiologic Technology required.
  • Current registration as a Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) required.
  • State Radiologic Technologist license required in states where applicable.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology or related field preferred.
  • Experience in interventional or pain management settings preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and position patients for imaging procedures, ensuring safety, comfort, and accurate technique.
  • Perform radiographic and fluoroscopic imaging during pain management procedures such as epidural steroid injections, nerve blocks, and joint injections.
  • Operate C-arm fluoroscopy equipment in accordance with physician direction and radiation safety guidelines.
  • Verify patient identity, confirm procedure orders, and review clinical history prior to imaging.
  • Maintain accurate and complete patient records, including imaging documentation and radiation exposure logs.
  • Adhere to infection control standards and sterile technique during interventional procedures.
  • Ensure proper functioning and calibration of imaging equipment; promptly report malfunctions or safety issues.
  • Maintain required inventory of imaging supplies and assist with ordering as needed.
  • Support a patient-centered care environment by communicating effectively and addressing patient questions and concerns.
  • Participate in continuing education to maintain required licensure and certification.
