About The Position

The position involves performing radiographic procedures and related techniques to produce images for interpretation by licensed practitioners. The role requires exercising professional judgment in the performance of services while maintaining a demeanor that complements medical ethics. The technologist is responsible for providing appropriate patient care and recognizing patient conditions essential for the successful completion of procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited radiography program or equivalent, as evidenced by current certification.
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in radiography, or eligible.
  • Possesses valid state credential/license.
  • One (1) year of experience is preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • ARRT certification.
  • LRRT certification.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patient for procedures by providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
  • Assists the surgeon during surgical procedures to ensure safety, effectiveness, and smooth flow while adhering to strict aseptic techniques.
  • Corroborates patient’s clinical history with the procedure, ensuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner.
  • Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to the patient, self, and others, assisting the surgical team with lead protection and monitoring badges when applicable.
  • Assists in positioning the patient for preparation of the surgical procedure, best demonstrating the anatomic area of interest while respecting patient ability and comfort.
  • Participates as an active member during the 'time out/pause process' during any invasive procedures to ensure adherence to universal protocol.
  • Assists in evening duties and pre-procedure preparedness, ensuring needed equipment is available in operating rooms.
  • Ensures radiology equipment is stored in proper locations at shift end and lead aprons are distributed evenly amongst storage racks.
