About the position

The Radiologic Technologist I-IV at JPS Health Network plays a crucial role in diagnosing patients by operating radiologic equipment to produce high-quality images. This position requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to assist in various medical procedures across multiple specialties, including Radiology, Surgery, and Emergency Medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Perform procedures as ordered and obtain images according to written protocols.
  • Adjust equipment for proper radiographic exposure techniques in accordance with radiation safety guidelines.
  • Position patients appropriately using immobilization and protective equipment as directed by the provider.
  • Organize and accurately perform the individual steps in established procedures in the proper sequence.
  • Review, manipulate, and evaluate images to deliver high-quality diagnostic images, including required post-processing at remote workstations.
  • Perform and document quality control on equipment according to manufacturer guidelines or department protocols; recognize and take appropriate action for abnormal results.
  • Report equipment problems and failures to Bio-Medical or Manager.
  • Transport patients within the guidelines defined by JPS Health Network.
  • Monitor accessory equipment and assist providers with fluoroscopic procedures.
  • Follow providers' instructions to obtain optimal images for diagnosis.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of aseptic technique, emergency medications, and equipment.
  • Apply and follow radiation safety principles to ensure patient and staff safety.
  • Work with minimal supervision and make independent decisions while maintaining tact, maturity, and a positive attitude.
  • Understand and use Picture Archival Computer System (PACS), Electronic Medical Records (EMR), and other software related to job responsibilities.
  • Provide a safe and clean environment; ensure operation of radiology equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; troubleshoot malfunctions; maintain equipment inventories; evaluate new equipment and techniques.
  • Provide education and training to affiliated radiologic technology programs and orientation to new technologists.
  • Assist with the training of new providers (residents) and Radiology PA's.
  • Engage in equitable distribution of departmental workloads.
  • Work in any area of diagnostic radiology, clinic, or Tarrant County Correctional Health department as deemed necessary by supervisor/manager.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent from JRCERT approved school of Radiologic Technology Science.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiology (R).
  • Certified by the Texas Medical Board (TMB) as a Medical Radiologist Technologist (MRT).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) by first day of employment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Surgery experience is preferred.
  • Fluoroscopy experience is preferred.
  • Trauma experience preferred.
  • Venipuncture Point of Care Testing.
