About The Position

The Radiologic Technologist at MVH is responsible for independently performing diagnostic radiographic procedures utilizing proper techniques and the administration of contrast media. This role requires working under the scope of practice and in accordance with certification/licensure in the administration of medications, operation of equipment, and venipuncture. The technologist will coordinate patient flow and the activities of the Radiology Department, exercising professional judgment to maintain equipment in good working condition. The position may also involve performing procedures in other imaging modalities based on departmental needs and may include on-call responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Allied Health with a major in Radiologic Technology.
  • CPR certification (AHA BLS) required.
  • ARRT RT (R) registry required.
  • ODH licensure required.
  • No prior job-related work experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform radiographic procedures of diagnostic quality as ordered by the referring physician and/or radiologist on patients of all ages according to established protocols and evaluate images for technical quality.
  • Obtain clinical history and data for correlation with the radiographic procedure.
  • Implement screening and safety measures in accordance with prescribed policies/procedures and perform daily and weekly quality control as required.
  • Prepare and administer contrast media to the patient according to policy and practice sterile techniques.
  • Assist Radiologist in special procedures and in performing medical treatment during emergency situations.
  • Coordinate patient care with other areas to optimize patient time and satisfaction.
  • Assess learning needs and educate patients/families regarding procedures based on individual needs, thoroughly educating patients about the exam.
  • Ensure that all records, files, and reports are properly recorded as required, performing clerical duties when necessary, and verifying a signed physician order is received and corresponds with the billed procedure.
  • Maintain knowledge of the locations and operation of all emergency equipment in the unit.
  • Follow radiation safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties or functions to meet patient, departmental, or organizational needs.
