About The Position

The position is for a part-time Radiologic Technologist at Advocate Health, specifically in the Imaging Services department. The role involves performing a variety of radiologic procedures, including general diagnostic and fluoroscopy, while ensuring patient safety and comfort. The technologist will work at the Northwest clinic and the Good Hope clinic, with a schedule primarily on Mondays and Tuesdays, and every other Wednesday. The pay range for this position is between $26.10 and $39.15 per hour.

Requirements

  • Radiographer license issued by the state in which the teammate practices.
  • Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months.
  • Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Radiologic Technology.
  • No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Competently performs basic to advanced radiologic procedures including general diagnostic, general fluoroscopy, and c-arm procedures.
  • Communicates with patients to explain procedures, obtain clinical history, and address any questions or concerns.
  • Positions patients and selects exposure factors for various radiologic examinations.
  • Provides patient with radiation protection and safety in accordance with prescribed methods.
  • Identifies patient and labels images, ensuring exam accuracy by comparing requisitions to physician's orders.
  • Processes images ensuring quality of radiographs and calls back patients as necessary.
  • Assists, communicates, and consults with the physician(s).
  • Prepares and maintains records in accordance with regulatory agencies.
  • Enters patient and study information into the radiology information system.
  • Documents billing codes of procedures performed to ensure accurate patient charges.
  • Serves as a technical resource, role model, and/or preceptor for students and staff.
  • Assists with accreditation efforts.
  • Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties.
