About The Position

The Rad Tech Assistant plays a crucial role in facilitating patient flow in a fast-paced Orthopaedic and Neurosurgery office. This position involves assisting with patient preparation for x-ray procedures, managing electronic images, and ensuring a smooth experience for patients in a high-volume clinic. The assistant will work under the supervision of a Registered Radiologic Technologist or Provider, contributing to patient care and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent education.
  • On-the-job training provided; prior clerical, computer, and healthcare-related experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology is preferred.
  • AHA BLS-HCP certification required.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with IV access (to be completed within 6 months of hire).

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates patient flow and assists patients in completing history sheets.
  • Prepares and positions patients for x-ray procedures.
  • Manages electronic images and utilizes computer skills to review and print images accurately.
  • Greets customers and addresses their needs while maintaining professionalism.
  • Prepares patients for IV access for saline and/or contrast administration under supervision.
  • Maintains knowledge of clinical information systems for data entry and retrieval.
  • Orders and stocks necessary supplies and linens, ensuring cleanliness in patient areas and workspaces.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, visitors, and healthcare professionals, demonstrating excellent telephone etiquette.
  • Assists with the orientation of new employees and transports patients safely to and from Imaging Services.
