About The Position

We are seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, and responsible Racquet Sports Camp Assistant to support our summer camp programs. The ideal candidate will assist in the daily operations of racquet sports activities, including tennis, or pickleball, and lunch. This role is perfect for someone passionate about sports who enjoys working with children and thrives in a team-oriented, indoor-outdoor environment.

Requirements

High school education, GED, or equivalent experience.
Minimum age: 18
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Positive attitude, team player, and dependable
Must be available for the full camp session. Individually, weekly sessions.
Hours required: Scheduled days and hours vary based on departmental needs
First Aid/CPR certified.
Must be able to meet the following minimum physical requirements for at least an eight-hour shift:
Physical Stamina: Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, reaching overhead, lifting, and carrying various objects weighing up to 30 lbs. On occasion, push a 50 lb. dolly. Work indoors in a temperature-controlled environment most of the time and sometimes work outdoors in extreme temperatures. Regularly may have to use the VAPTR to dry courts outdoors.
Hearing / Speech: Must be able to effectively engage in one-on-one communication with guests, members, and customers.
Vision: Must be able to accurately read instructions, reports, and log sheets. Must be able to work with computers and PDAs in varying light conditions.
Literacy: Must be able to produce, read, and understand reports, including security, incident, and police reports. Must be able to analyze and process written information from a variety of sources and effectively communicate the content of reports.
Chemicals/Agents: Must be able to work safely with chemicals according to SDS sheets and all applicable laws, codes, and regulatory requirements.

Nice To Haves

Experience in racquet sports (tennis, pickleball, etc.) preferred, but not necessary.
Previous experience working with children

Responsibilities

Assist lead instructors in organizing and running racquet sport activities
Help set up and break down courts and equipment each day
Provide hands-on instruction and encouragement to campers of various skill levels
Ensure camper safety by monitoring activities and enforcing camp rules
Demonstrate sportsmanship, enthusiasm, and professionalism at all times
Support campers with hydration, sunscreen reminders, and positive encouragement
Maintain the cleanliness and organization of racquet sports areas
Participate in staff meetings and training sessions as required
Step in for other camp-related duties as needed
Other duties as assigned.
