About The Position

Reporting to the Lead Operator the Rack Line-up Operator is responsible for ensuring correct line-ups for truck and rail product movements are made and monitored. They must be able to work all aspects of Rail and Truck Operations and duties assigned to them by the Lead Operator/Shift Supervisor and to be flexible enough to work in all capacities of Marine Operations as a Dock Operator when called upon to do so. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duties satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Basic understanding of industrial operations and basic mathematical ability.
  • Ability to read and comprehend Standard Operating Procedures, SDS sheets and other technical documents.
  • Must be available for on-call as scheduled
  • Must have a valid Driver’s license
  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC card

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of experience in terminal operations preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and follow all Standard Operating procedures.
  • Have good communication skills and a good working relationship with other HFOTCO employees, customers, contractors, railroad personnel and any other personnel conducting business with HFOTCO.
  • Understands and follow all rules and guidelines set forth by HFOTCO in rack Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Safely operates and executes all pumps, steam and air procedures.
  • Make line-ups for the truck and rail product movements and ensure the line-ups are double checked by another operator or supervisor before starting any move.
  • Properly connects/disconnects all 4" railcar hoses, 3" tank truck hoses and steam hoses.
  • Periodically checks and monitors product levels of railcars that are steaming to prevent boil over.
  • Periodically checks and monitors product levels on tank trucks/railcars that may be unloading or loading to confirm when vessel is empty and to prevent pumps from running dry.
  • Verifies shore tank levels before discharging any tank trucks/rail cars to ensure available is sufficient for required volume to be received.
  • Properly gauges and takes temperatures of shore tanks and tank cars.
  • Properly maintains and completes all necessary paperwork, logs and gauge sheets.
  • Enter data into computer and possess basic computer skills.
  • Comply with SOP manual, spill response plan and safety policies.
  • Stays alert, monitors tank trucks/rail cars throughout entire move until such a time that transfer is completed.
  • Can safely work in the capacity of a Dockman when called upon to do so.
  • Assist other operators when needed.
  • Perform all other duties as needed or required by the Lead Operator or Shift Supervisor.
