About The Position

As a Mechanical Engineer in Research and Development (R&D) for New Product Development at Stryker, you will play a crucial role in designing and developing medical devices. This position involves leading small projects and collaborating with multi-functional teams to ensure successful product launches for the Interventional Spine (IVS) business unit. The role requires a blend of technical skills and teamwork to advance projects through the design and development process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, BioMedical, or related discipline.
  • 0+ years of work experience in mechanical engineering practices and tools, design principles.

Nice To Haves

  • Internship experience in R&D new product development.
  • Basic knowledge of design and concept generation CAD or CAE modeling tools (ProE, Creo or SolidWorks preferred).
  • Basic knowledge of analysis tools and statistical methods.
  • Technical ability to create, read, and interpret engineering drawings and models, applying GD&T and CAE tools.
  • Basic knowledge of materials and manufacturing methods.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, modify, and verify mechanical components for medical devices under supervision.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing, and Project Management teams to ensure project success.
  • Conduct research and studies to support product design, assist with prototyping and bench testing.
  • Support problem solving and root cause analysis, identifying potential solutions and evaluating them against requirements.
  • Understand the product's intended use and clinical procedures, interpreting customer needs and design inputs.
  • Create or refine engineering documentation, such as the Design History file per company design control procedures.
  • Learn R&D procedures like design controls and risk management, per the Quality Management System.
