About The Position

Here at LearnWell, we’ve dedicated ourselves to making a life-changing impact on the 10 million students currently in the U.S. who live with some type of behavioral health need (depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, eating disorder, substance use). For nearly 25 years, we have provided on-site instructional services within the hospital setting, helping students to continue their academic progress during treatment and successfully reenter the classroom. LearnWell has a network of 200+ dedicated educators that commit themselves daily to embracing our mission and positively impacting generations to come. LearnWell is currently looking for our next creative and passionate teacher to fill a full-time ten month position for the greater Westchester, NY area. The certified teacher will work between 6-8 of our teaching locations, most of them being a behavioral health environment. Most locations have 8-15 students at a time receiving educational services with a maximum class of 15 students in certain locations. This teacher will be supporting students from grades K-12 with their four core subjects.

Requirements

• B.A/B.S degree from an accredited institution
• NY State Teaching Certification
• Comfortable working within a pediatric and adolescent population
• Flexibility with daily location, including same day call outs
• Ability to travel, most sites are within a 30-45 minute drive with a few outliers that are 1-1.5 hours away
• Reliable Transportation
• Position entails a 40-hour a week commitment, Monday-Friday.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver daily lesson plans and instructional material for an average of 8-10 students, with a maximum amount of 15; in a small group setting
• Help students one-on-one if extra assistance is needed on their individual school curriculum
• Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction
• Communicate necessary information regularly to students, hospital and parents regarding student progress and student needs
• Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies
• Updating daily attendance and creating daily session reports for each student
