About the position

As a General Merchandise Sales Executive Team Leader at Target, you will be responsible for leading a team that ensures a consistent experience for guests by managing product availability, pricing, and presentation. You will oversee operations related to inbound and outbound processes, inventory accuracy, and promotional signing. This role is pivotal in creating a service culture that prioritizes guest satisfaction and drives store profitability. You will also be involved in recruiting, training, and developing team members to achieve business objectives and maintain a high standard of service.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and create a service culture that prioritizes the guest service experience.
  • Drive total store sales and demonstrate how your team contributes to store profitability.
  • Build and manage a team that executes operational processes for all GM areas.
  • Lead the understanding of operational procedures impacting inventory accuracy and profitability.
  • Enable efficient delivery to guests by leading fulfillment work.
  • Develop strategies and utilize workload planning tools to ensure readiness.
  • Create scheduling plans based on business workload and guest traffic.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with your team to guide task completion.
  • Oversee GM backroom and sales floor areas, reviewing reporting to identify gaps.
  • Drive fulfillment sales by leading the Fulfillment team.
  • Leverage guest insights to drive business objectives.
  • Plan and manage organizational and operational changes.
  • Develop and coach Team Leaders to elevate team skills.
  • Establish a culture of accountability through performance management.
  • Anticipate staffing needs and manage talent planning.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Lead a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance.
  • Create a safety advocacy culture and hold the team accountable.
  • Address store needs such as emergencies and regulatory visits.

Requirements

  • 4 year degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Ability to manage conflict and hold others accountable.
  • Strong cognitive skills, including problem analysis and decision making.
  • Ability to relate well with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to evolving technology needs.
  • Ability to independently manage workload and prioritize tasks.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in retail management.
