Job Title R&D Technician I Responsible for analyzing and controlling processes and projects in the development/pilot production of high quality ceramics. In addition, responsible for sample preparation, test, and analysis of ceramic or other related materials.

Requirements

  • Shift: Monday–Friday: 6:00–2:30 PM or 6:00–4:30 PM (Flexible)
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent plus 2 years related work experience or a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Intermediate math and writing skills required.
  • Strives to understand ceramic science principles for materials related to assigned projects and contributes appropriate observations.
  • Possess the ability to use the computer system for basic departmental functions.
  • Must be able to work with a diverse variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds.
  • Exhibits effective cooperation and communication skills to effectively work within a team environment.
  • General computer skills required; ability to perform basic data entry (Excel not required but helpful).
  • Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times in work areas, including a full jumpsuit and respirator.
  • May be required to handle hazardous chemicals such as acids and solvents.
  • Medical evaluation may be required prior to respirator fitting.
  • May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Role consists of approximately 80% floor work (batching, cleaning, processing) and 20% data entry and training.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a laboratory environment preferred.
  • Experience with equipment maintenance and troubleshooting preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude is a bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Works under close supervision following approved work instructions in the creation and/or analysis of high‑quality ceramic products.
  • Supports analyzing data, systems, processes, product, or equipment to achieve desired results.
  • Works on assigned projects and contributes to technical reports as required.
  • Collects data using appropriate software to accurately maintain specified technical records.
  • Performs general data entry, including viscosity and particle size data.
  • Demonstrates proficiency to learn and run operations as required.
  • Works independently or in a small team environment; must be self‑motivated and effective with minimal supervision.
  • Recognizes and reports deviations of equipment and processes to leadership.
  • Participates in batching, cleaning, and hands-on processing work involving dark powder materials, requiring use of a jumpsuit and respirator.
  • Knows and follows all safety requirements, including emergency evacuation; strives to maintain a safe work environment and reports potential hazards to lead or supervisor
