The Technical Program Manager (TPM) will support efforts crossing all divisions of FTI. TPM will focus on initiatives intended to meet FTI’s business goals. A successful technical program manager must develop and execute programs that support business strategy, relying on strong planning and strategic thinking skills. The TPM will be part of a tightly knit group of Engineers, Designers, QA, and other Product or Project managers, Operations, Procurement, etc. and will be responsible for the execution and delivery of new product/functionality launches. This position typically has indirect supervision of technical support staff, provides day-to-day work direction, and participates in formal performance evaluations. The Technical Program Manager will work closely with cross-functional Leadership Teams to ensure that programs have proper resource allocation, develop timelines, and manage project budgets, communicate team’s progress and status; and execute projects to meet agreed-upon timelines, cost, and quality targets. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully managing projects leveraging project management industry standard tools and methodologies from initial design through support of manufacturing and construction in dynamic manufacturing and construction environments. The ideal candidate must have experience in leading, motivating, and managing technically based cross-functional teams in accomplishing projects with notable impact(s) on company objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Business Administration, Electrical Engineering or other related fields required with Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
  • Minimum of 20 years of demonstrated Project Management experience.
  • Recent experience managing large projects with high complexity; multiple projects and programs.
  • Management of large project teams consisting of a wide array of resource skill sets across multiple locations.
  • Previous experiencing managing / controlling project budgets greater than $5M.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with experience interacting with Executive Leadership.
  • Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills with ability to develop executive level communications.
  • Travel: 15-20%
  • Work Schedule: This position works between the hours of 7 AM and 5 PM, Monday- Friday. However, work may be performed at any time on any day of the week to meet business needs.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA, Program Management Professional (PMP) and additional technical certifications, a plus.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification or experience preferred.
  • Change management certification or experience preferred.
  • Experience with stage-gate Product Development Process (PDP), Product Lifecycle Management, and Solution Delivery Process (SDP) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as change agent: Makes project goals their own and uses their skills and expertise to inspire a sense of shared purpose within the project team and encourage improvement opportunities.
  • Management of large projects with high complexity; multiple inter-dependent projects and programs.
  • Partners with multi-departmental leadership and other stakeholders to locate opportunities, develop and prioritize projects according to relevant measurement criteria.
  • Oversees all aspects of assigned programs throughout project lifecycles to ensure completion within the defined scope, quality, time and cost constraints.
  • Ensures accurate allocations of resources throughout the program.
  • Leads multi-disciplinary teams, composed of various levels of resources and/or vendors to create and deploy successful programs.
  • Works with Project Sponsor and Solution Owner to ensure scope is explicitly defined, documented and integrity maintained.
  • Works with Operations and Estimating staff in development of design / engineering project budgets and cost for submittal to customers.
  • Establishes and executes a project communication plan, meeting facilitation, presentation, and delivery.
  • Demonstrates success in team leadership, stakeholder management, process adherence, ownership/ commitment, learning agility and risk management capabilities.
  • Ensures programs and projects are delivered within approved budget, schedule, contingency and meets quality standards.
  • Engages team to identify all project risk, develops mitigation strategies/plans and works to have strategies in place should they be needed and negotiates conflict resolution when needed between team members or Solution Owners.
  • Utilizes motivation techniques to ensure project team reaches goals and milestones.
  • Works with design / engineering staff and operations in the management of agreed upon design / engineering project budgets and cost.
  • Manages team to document scope of design for customer review and ensures that all assumptions in design are documented to avoid risk.
  • Networks, establishes, and maintains customer relationships.
  • Plans, organizes, and staffs projects.
  • Ensures that projects are completed safely, profitably, timely, of a high quality and according to customer expectations.
  • Communicates to all concerned parties project milestones, status updates, as well as any existing or potential escalation of risks or issues.
  • Proactively follows escalation and change control processes.
  • Manages overall ownership of reports on a given engagement.
  • Serves as a role model in promoting good working relationships across a project.
  • Cultivates the people skills needed to develop trust and communication among all of the project stakeholders.
  • Maintains detailed record throughout the life of a project by ensuring documentation is saved within project repository in a timely manner and shares information as necessary.
  • Serves as a mentor to peers and other team members.
  • Ensures projects are completed safely, profitably, timely, of high quality, and according to customer expectations.
  • Promotes a positive Company Culture by fostering friendly and constructive employee relations.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
