About The Position

Our R&D engineers are tasked with designing and developing implant products for the Active Implantable Systems (AIS) group. This includes technologies that monitor, support diagnosis and treat irregular heart rhythms, heart failure, and sudden cardiac arrest. AIS provides devices and therapies for a patient's entire continuum of care, from diagnostic to treatment. This division strives to innovate and create a paradigm shift that can solve unmet clinical needs and change what is possible for patients. This role follows an onsite work model, requiring employees to be in our local office at least four days per week. Corporate housing and relocation are available for those who are eligible. Requirements

  • Current rising junior or rising senior (grad dates between Dec 2026 - May 2028), graduating senior (May 2027 grad) continuing on to grad school, or current grad student. Must have at least one semester of school left post-internship to qualify.
  • Working towards a Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering with a software emphasis or experience
  • Must be able to start internship on May 18th or 26th, 2026 and work for 12 weeks
  • Must have reliable transportation to/from work.
  • Experience using programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++ (this role uses Python)
  • Experience with or comfortability with hardware and debugging
  • Experience with testing and tool work-related projects in school or work

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and test prototype implantable devices in response to clinical feedback and performance requirements
  • Use Python to develop scripts and tools for data analysis, device simulation, and automation of test procedures
  • Debug hardware and software systems to ensure device reliability and safety under clinical conditions
  • Apply automation techniques to streamline testing workflows and improve reproducibility of results
  • Create test methods and bench simulations that replicate real-world clinical use cases
  • Translate technical findings into design recommendations that enhance patient outcomes across the continuum of care
