About The Position

Broadcom Data Center Solution Group is seeking a talented and passionate engineer to join the R&D Systems Applications Engineering (SAE) team for a global organization that helps customers design, integrate, and maintain enterprise level products. SAEs work directly with top tier OEMs / ODMs, Field Application Engineers (FAE), and internal design engineers to launch new customer products and resolve complex technical issues in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Experience with firmware, host software, hardware, and PCIe protocol level debug.
  • Experience developing and debugging C code.
  • Prior experience in embedded software debug or development (firmware, drivers, BIOS) using PCIe technology.
  • Experience reading board schematics and layout files.
  • Experience in design/debug of HW/PCBA
  • Skilled at debugging and analyzing high speed analog signals.
  • Skilled in organizing information.
  • Self-motivated and a strong self-driven learner who learns new technologies quickly.
  • Good written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple parallel tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to articulate and explain complex technical problems to customers and internal teams.
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or related field plus 8 years of relevant experience (or Masters Degree in related field plus 6 years of relevant experience).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with NIC, SAS/SATA protocols, RAID, ARM or PPC embedded processors, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
  • Ability to perform SMD/SMT soldering and rework.
  • Presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, debug, and root cause issues found within Broadcom’s PCIe switch products and work with appropriate development teams (firmware, host software, IC hardware, or board hardware) to provide a solution.
  • Provide guidance to OEM and Cloud customers on properly integrating Broadcom’s PCIe switch products into GP-GPUs, AI/ML platforms, storage servers and custom designs. Guidance consists of architecture reviews, schematic reviews, layout reviews, design-in support and training customers on product features.
  • Analyze Firmware, Driver, OS, and BMC logs to identify the root cause of issues reported by system designers.
  • Develop debug software to gather failure data whenever needed.
  • Capture and analyze PCIe protocol bus trace to identify the issue root cause.
  • Develop product documentation for use by customers implementing Broadcom’s PCIe switch products.
  • Develop relations and collaborate with industry partners to provide value to mutual customers.
  • Train field sales and support staff in the features and uses of Broadcom PCIe switch products.
  • Develop tools and processes to improve debug efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Co-ordinate software release timing with the Development team and work with Dev Ops teams to port fixes and produce Release Notes.
  • Help procure lab equipment, manage inventory, and keep lab organized.
  • Represent Broadcom PCIe Switch at industry events.
  • Occasional travel, some of which may be international.
