About The Position

Central Specialty Pet is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to support the development of smart-enabled pet monitoring systems used in aquatic and reptile environments. This internship provides ownership of one active product development project with a strong emphasis on CAD design, mechanical system integration, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. In addition to product development responsibilities, the intern will lead a secondary project focused on creating a standardized archiving solution for legacy and future R D projects, including project folders, CAD files, specifications, and test documentation. What can you expect to get out of this internship? • Hands-on experience with smart, connected pet products • Ownership of real product development and documentation projects • Exposure to the full product development lifecycle • Cross-functional collaboration experience • Practical CAD, testing, and project management skills These are some example projects you may work on as a Summer Intern: • Support one smart pet monitoring system development project • Create and modify CAD models, assemblies, and drawings using ProEngineer Creo • Support mechanical design of enclosures, housings, and mounts • Collaborate with electrical and firmware teams on sensor integration • Assist with prototyping and form, fit, and function testing • Develop a standardized R D project archiving framework for legacy and future projects • Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled as a Sophomore or Junior in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • CAD proficiency (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Understanding of mechanical design fundamentals
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills
