The Role: An Experienced Technical Leader We are seeking a highly experienced hands-on C++ Engineer to join our VCF vCenter team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for defining the technical vision, architecting, and leading the implementation of complex distributed systems that are central to our VCF offerings. You will work closely with product management, engineering teams, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions, driving innovation and excellence in our product development lifecycle and delivering those solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree plus 12+ years of experience in software development, with at least 5 years in a lead architect or principal engineer role focusing on distributed systems or Masters degree and 10+ years of related experience or PhD and 7+ years of related experience
• Proven ability to lead and mentor engineering teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
• Deep understanding and hands-on experience with various distributed systems concepts, technologies ( e.g. distributed databases, consensus algorithms, fault tolerance, consistency models)
• Proficiency in one or more relevant programming languages , C++ is required. Additional languages (Python, Java, GoLang, a plus)
• Deep knowledge of database concepts and experience in Postgres desired.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Must have legal authorization to work in the US

Nice To Haves

• Experience with virtualization technologies, particularly the VMware stack (vSphere, ESXi), is highly desirable

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the long-term technical vision and strategy for critical services within the VCF vCenter portfolio
• Spearhead the architectural design and development of highly scalable, reliable, and performant distributed services that power our customers demanding infrastructure.
• Contribute significantly to the hands-on implementation of core system components, setting an example for code quality and engineering excellence.
• Identify and resolve complex technical challenges, acting as a key troubleshooter and problem-solver for critical system issues.
• Collaborate seamlessly with product management, quality engineering, and other teams to translate business goals into elegant technical solutions.
• Enforce the highest standards for performance, scalability, and security across the design and implementation of our systems
