In this role, you will: Work Location: Durham, North Carolina In this role, you will: As a Burt’s Bees R&D Product & Process Development Scientist 1 , you will support the development and commercialization of high - quality beauty and personal care products—from ideation and lab formulation through scale - up and start of production . You’ll collaborate closely with R&D, Marketing , Sales, and Supply chain to translate consumer needs into technical solutions. You’ll contribute to product testing, development trials, and manufacturing readiness while building hands-on experience in formulation, process development, and data driven problem solving. From day one, your work will help bring trusted Burt’s Bees products to market while you grow your technical capabilities and career within a collaborative R&D environment.

Requirements

• Majors: B.S. Chemical Engineering, B.S. Biomedical Engineering, B.S. BioEngineering
• Graduating between December 202 5 and June 202 6
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Strong lab fundamentals
• Demonstrated curiosity and initiative in learning new ingredients, technologies, formulation approaches, and applications in personal care industry .
• Foundational knowledge of process scale-up and manufacturing fundamentals
• Confident self-starter and critical thinker, capable of working independently and collaboratively with minimal direction in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience analyzing and interpreting data using statistical analysis tools ( i.e. JMP, Minitab

Responsibilities

• Fuel i nnovation end to end : Support p roduct formulation and p rocess d evelopment across Burt’s Bees personal care portfolio – from bench to scale-up to commer cialization – bringing high-quality , superior products to life for consumers .
• Solve with science : lab fundamentals, chemistry and engineering principles , and data -driven thinking to solve formulation, processing, and s cale-up challenges – executing experiments and t ranslat ing learnings and data into clear technical insights .
• Own t echnical e xecution : Create and maintain product specifications , test methods, and process standards to ensure quality, consistenc y, and complianc e throughout a project life cycle.
• Deliver and l aunch : Support pilot - and manufacturing-scale trials – ass es sing performance, resolv ing technical challenges, and partner ing cross - functionally to drive commercial readiness
• Collaborate to win : Partner with R&D, Sales, Marketing, and Supply Chain to align technical development with business and manufacturing needs – while growing your product d evelopment, problem-solving, and leadership skills .
