About The Position

The Opportunity: P&G has an opportunity for a PhD intern to work on our corporate function R&D team to explore how odors develop from certain materials and to create effective solutions to reduce or eliminate these odors. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong eagerness to learn and grow professionally and possess excellent communication skills—both written and verbal. Requirements

  • Working towards a PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field with the technical discipline relating to the analytical determination of chemical mixtures.
  • Experience in at least one of the following: The development/refinement of analytical methods towards characterization of chemical mixtures, Chemical mechanism theory and validation, Impurity identification, isolation, or removal.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and formulate analytical learning plans.
  • Experience developing or applying LC and/or GC-MS methodology.
  • Available to work a 12-week internship from May/early June to August in the summer of 2026.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree is optional.
  • Research/experience with chemical oxidation or degradation mechanisms.

Responsibilities

  • Independently lead research initiatives to investigate the mechanism of odor formation from specific materials.
  • Develop and recommend a detailed, scientifically-sound technical approach to counteract odor formation and persistence.
  • Execute research plans in a timely and accountable manner, ensuring adherence to best practices and principles.
  • Communicate your insights and findings with the team to enhance our collective knowledge and practices.
