About The Position

Renewal by Andersen is looking for an accomplished, driven, and collaborative New Product Development Design Engineer II on our Research, Development and Innovation team. In this role you will be a member of the design team and may take on the role of Design Lead for small-to-medium-scale new product development projects. PURPOSE There has never been a more exciting time to work in research and development at Andersen. This engineer will be an integral member of the New Product Development team. The purpose of this role is to develop new products and services via Stage-Gate product development processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • Experience as a design engineer on a cross-functional engineering team
  • Strong aptitude for process improvement, problem solving, technical execution, and project management
  • Experience delivering products from ideation through commercialization using a gated design review process
  • 4-10 years engineering or technical experience
  • CAD experience required

Nice To Haves

  • Experienced knowledge of lean, manufacturing, design, and quality systems
  • Demonstrated ability with dimensional engineering and tolerance/variation analysis
  • Experience as a design or project lead on a cross-functional engineering team
  • Experience with Autodesk, FEA, MS Office, BAAN, and MES

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and lead activities on technically challenging assignments
  • Develop multiple concepts related to meeting a customer need
  • Evaluate and recommend engineering and design solutions
  • Create and present reports summarizing technical analysis and business viability to varied audiences
  • Maintain primary technical communication responsibility, lead tactical discussions, and effectively communicate with external customers and staff.
  • Designs, plans, collects, analyzes, and reports on experimental studies and/or new product concepts/ideas.
  • Applies engineering rigor to product designs; ensuring the product will meet performance expectations and delight customers.
  • Shows independent creativity and initiative for business and organizational contributions
  • Drives discussions and decisions on overall project objectives with managers and other functional leaders.
