The opportunity to begin your career with the most innovative and forward-thinking building products company in the industry The opportunity to help transform the design and building of spaces, so that occupants, owners, operators, and communities can thrive, today and into the future R&D Mechanical Engineering Intern Program Offering Mechanical – Research & Development(R&D) Engineering Intern: Completing an assigned engineering project during the term of the internship Contributing to several ongoing R&D engineering projects Experience with and exposure to supporting the Project Management Life Cycle, including: Preparation of project specifications and requirements Project schedule coordination and utilization of Project Management tools Project execution, project closing activities, and sustainability initiatives Valuable insight into large-scale manufacturing facilities, equipment, and safe working practices 3D Modeling or Simulation Modeling – to predict process/material interactions Exposure to Sorting, conveying, combustion, sanding, fluid, and pneumatic transfer systems What will make you successful Outside-of-the-Box thinker Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills and a team-oriented mindset Capability to build and nurture relationships with other functions within AWI Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines A track record of leadership through work, school, or extra-curricular activities

Requirements

  • Must be currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) at an ABET accredited program AND be a maximum of 24 months away from graduation
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA (cumulative, and within major)
  • Outside-of-the-Box thinker
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
  • Capability to build and nurture relationships with other functions within AWI
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • A track record of leadership through work, school, or extra-curricular activities

Nice To Haves

  • Previous internship in a manufacturing or R&D environment
  • Autodesk 3D Modeling
  • Autodesk Simulation experience
