About The Position

As a R D Intern with Manhattan Associates Inc., you will team up with some of the best software developers in the company and contribute to developing new features and enhancements for any number of our software solutions. Manhattan Interns spend 12 weeks (Summer) or 17 weeks (Spring/Fall) at our global headquarters in Atlanta, GA. Interns will be exposed to a number of technologies and will gain hands-on experience and have the opportunity to apply and develop their skills. You will gain experience with one or more of the following: Frontend Development (HTML, CSS, Angular 2, Ionic), Backend Development (Java, SQL, C++, Spring), Cloud Development (AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure), Big Data, Machine Learning, Web Services, and/or Enterprise Application Development Systems.

Requirements

• Pursuing a Bachelor's of Science in Computer Science or Engineering.
• Able and eager to learn new technologies.
• Work in independent and small group projects.
• Understanding of programming languages and Object-Oriented Concepts.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA.
• US Citizen or Permanent resident.
• Must be able to work in Atlanta.

Responsibilities

• Perform design and coding activities in the software engineering lifecycle.
• Work on small efforts in isolated portions of code to allow familiarity and knowledge building.
• Engage in full scale software development tasks.
• Create Software Design Documentation.
• Develop Design and Functional Test Verification Procedures.
• Participate in Design and Code Reviews.
• Assure adherence to budget/schedule constraints.
• Clarify business problems and define the value in solving those problems.
• Guide team to balance appropriate technical solutions for business problems.
• Practice Test Driven Development and define/document acceptance tests.
• Collaborate with development teams to ensure proposed solutions meet business needs.
• Read and understand code and employ standard coding and design practices.
• Participate in team-based development using Agile Scrum methodology and Paired Programming.
• Track down and fix bugs.
• Analyze product functional needs and user interactions.
• Engage in usability and product styling design discussions.
• Help coordinate usability testing efforts.
