This position is for an R&D III-V Back-End-Of-Line Integration Engineer within the High Frequency Technology Center (HFTC) at Keysight's headquarters in Santa Rosa, California. HFTC is part of Keysight Labs, the core R&D organization that enables Keysight’s various centers and teams to provide RF, microwave, mmWave, 5G and 6G Test and Measurement solutions. The role focuses on the development and optimization of back-end-of-line (BEOL) micro- and nano-fabrication processes for high-performance compound semiconductor microwave and millimeter-wave applications, including InP and GaAs-based HBTs, HEMTs, and other electronic components critical for industry-leading RF, microwave and high-bit-rate instruments.

Requirements

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of proven experience with advanced semiconductor processes.
  • Strong understanding of BEOL materials, plasma processes, and thermal budgets.
  • Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and design of experiments (DOE) is required.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills for successful inter and intra-group interactions.
  • Strong accountability, self-initiative, and proactive attitude.
  • Candidates must be local or willing to relocate to Santa Rosa, CA
  • This position requires access to certain goods, software, technology, or technical data subject to U.S. export control laws and regulations. Nice To Haves

  • Specific skills in III-V device physics and processing are highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of high-frequency transistor design and performance (HBT, HEMT) is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Define, implement, and enhance back-end-of-line (BEOL) process flows for III-V semiconductor devices, including interconnects, passivation, and packaging interfaces.
  • Collaborate with front-end integration engineers, process engineers, heterogeneous integration engineers, and reliability engineers to ensure seamless integration and manufacturability.
  • Define material, process, and device performance specifications, supporting semiconductor fab yield targets.
  • Lead corrective action and process improvement teams, define actions, and drive schedules.
