About The Position

A little about us: At Multi-Flow Industries we specialize in the manufacturing and distribution of a wide range of beverages used in the Food Service Industry. The categories include Juices, Energy Drinks, Carbonated Beverages, Specialty Waters, Thickened Waters, and Liquid Roast Coffee. We are our customer's one-stop-shop for all their bars and restaurant needs. What the R&D Technologist/Quality Analyst job entails: Develop formulations for drink/beverage products with continuous improvement projects such as cost reduction, optimization of quality, and manufacturing efficiencies. Make benchtop samples using new or existing formulations. Create new formulas using existing formulas as a reference. Communicate with suppliers to obtain samples, costing, and documentation. Create nutritional’s based on formulations using ESHA/ Genesis label software. Inputting new and editing existing formulas in the computer software. Test and evaluate raw materials like juice concentrates and record test results. Maintain a proper inventory of ingredients, products sent to customers, and supplies in the R&D lab. Maintain the lab equipment and keep it organized. Must promote a safe working environment and good GMPs. Perform other assignments as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in food science, culinary science, biology, chemistry, nutrition, or any related disciplines (recent graduates welcome).
  • Basic understanding of formulation of beverages.
  • Basic understanding of regulatory compliance with FDA Standards
  • Knowledge of MS Office Software applications.
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team-oriented environment, including members from QA, Production, and Sales.
  • Must be able to communicate scientific ideas to non-scientific people.
  • Problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Analytical and communication skills.
  • Timely execution of multiple project objectives within established timelines.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 6 months of R&D experience in the juice/beverage industry working on benchtop samples and formulations.
  • Genesis label software knowledge
  • Experience in a food manufacturing environment
  • Quality Assurance experience
  • Flexibility to dip into QA when needed to assist the manager
  • Willingness to take certification tests to become an SQF practitioner
