About The Position

The R & D Food Technologist I position at NOW Health Group involves developing formulations for all food products sold by the company, including those under various product lines such as Real Food, Real Tea, Living Now, BetterStevia, and Ellyndale. The role requires hands-on work in processing rooms and packaging lines, providing technical support to manufacturing, and addressing quality issues. The technologist will also coordinate food-related testing, develop ingredient specifications, and participate in product development committees. The position emphasizes safety and compliance with GMP requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science.
  • 3-5 years of related experience in product development.
  • Culinary Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in natural foods product development and culinary experience.
  • Experience formulating gluten-free and allergen-free foods.
  • Background in developing recipes using alternate sweeteners such as Stevia.

Responsibilities

  • Develop formulations for food products sold by NOW Health Group.
  • Support in-house and contract manufacturing by providing technical information and troubleshooting.
  • Work directly with Purchasing, Quality Assurance, and Quality Control to evaluate new ingredients.
  • Organize resources to complete projects based on profitability objectives and departmental goals.
  • Coordinate and track food-related physical, microbiological, chemical, and stability testing.
  • Help develop ingredient and formulation specifications and provide required label information.
  • Participate in product development committees to communicate project updates.
  • Set up food sensory evaluation testing and analyze results.
  • Document critical parameters about approved formulas for production.
  • Complete and evaluate product documentation packages for final review.
  • Communicate formula requirements to various departments.
  • Evaluate equipment and processes for product development and production.
  • Maintain a safe and clean test kitchen/lab.
