Learn more at https://www.jnj.com/medtech We are searching for the best talent for R&D Engineering Intern to be in Santa Clara, CA. The Intern term is from June to August, 2026. Full time requirement (40 hours per week). Purpose: The R&D Engineering Intern will develop testing models or prototype build fixtures under the guidance of their manager and an engineering mentor. The project will involve experimentation in candidate test methods and fixtures until one is identified. The project will conclude with a presentation to R&D management and an approved technical report. You will be responsible: Experimentation with candidate tests and fixtures in the R&D lab. Learn the basics of the Shockwave Medical testing. Perform data collection and analyses. Document results using Good Documentation Practices (GDP). Execute technical protocols and reports. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Completion of Undergraduate Freshman year at an accredited University is required.
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Biomedical, Chemical, Materials or Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher, which is reflective of all college coursework.
  • Basic knowledge of electronics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint is required.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Operate as a team or independently with management guidance.
  • Permanently authorized to work in the U.S., must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future.
  • Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually requires future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in Solidworks or CAD is highly desirable.
