Bonterra exists to propel every doer of good to their peak impact. We measure that impact against our vision to increase the giving rate as a percentage of GDP from 2% to 3% by 2033. We know that this goal is lofty, but we are confident that the right technology and expertise will strengthen trust in the sector, allowing the social good industry to accelerate growth and reach peak impact. Bonterra's differentiated, end-to-end solutions collectively support a unique network of over 20,000 customers, including over 16,000 nonprofit organizations and over 50 percent of Fortune 100 companies. We're looking for a curious, driven, and hands-on R D Engineering Intern who is passionate about learning and applying AI in a real-world engineering environment. As part of the R D Engineering team at Bonterra, you'll work with engineers who are passionate about experimenting with emerging technologies—especially AI—to shape the future of software development. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with engineers, contribute to prototypes and internal tooling initiatives. This will be a paid internship program lasting 10-12 weeks, starting on June 23, 2025. This position does not qualify for benefits. The role offers flexible hours and is remote.

  • Participate in agile ceremonies, design discussions, and sprint reviews alongside full-time engineers
  • Share learnings in a final intern showcase or write-up to help scale impact across the engineering team
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
  • Strong enthusiasm for AI, especially as it applies to software engineering and SaaS development
  • Familiarity with one or more engineering AI tools (e.g., Cursor, GitHub Copilot) is a strong plus
  • Solid programming skills (Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or similar)
  • Eagerness to learn, experiment, and think creatively
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Prior experience with open-source projects or personal projects using AI tools
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Interest in developer productivity, AI ethics, or engineering enablement
  • Generous Flexible Time Off (FTO) Policy
  • Up to 15 paid company holidays including some commemorating social justice events and self-care
  • Paid volunteer time
