About The Position

The R&D Engineer II position at CoorsTek involves providing engineering support and technical guidance to material, product, and process development programs. The role is focused on conducting engineering experiments, optimizing existing materials and processes, and contributing to project management activities. The engineer will work collaboratively with various sectors of the company and participate in safety culture and continuous improvement efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, or related Physical Science or Engineering, and at least three years relevant experience; or a Master's degree in Materials Science, or related Physical Science or Engineering.
  • Sound basic knowledge of mathematics, statistics, engineering science and ceramic processing.
  • Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organized, detail-oriented person necessary.
  • Team player.
  • Must be able to work with a diverse variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts engineering experiments on new materials, products, processes and/or procedures with limited direction.
  • Participates significantly in projects to optimize and improve existing materials, products, processes and/or procedures.
  • Contributes to project plan development, execution and reporting activities to support CoorsTek project management activities.
  • Devises basic research methods and documents results and procedures.
  • Operates process and test equipment with an understanding of functionality based on underlying engineering principles.
  • Exercises responsibility for specific pieces of processing and/or analytical equipment.
  • Works collaboratively with the Operations and Commercial sectors of the company.
  • Participates in the company's safety culture and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Undertakes further training to improve skills.
