Boston Scientific is seeking a highly creative and strategically minded Research & Development Engineer II. The successful candidate will support implementation of virtual Heart Failure patient care tool for monitoring diuretic efficacy/resistance and guide interventional therapy. The ideal candidate will have previous experience with Interventional Heart Failure (IHF) technologies. The candidate will be a key technical resource within the system integration of various diagnostic technologies into existing IHF product portfolio/pipeline as well as bi-directional communication with patient EMR.

  • Own and drive significant portions of design/development activities related to implementation of a virtual HF patient care tool.
  • Work within small and focused teams to drive ideation, prototyping, evaluation, and efficient decision making.
  • Provide strong technical subject matter expertise in the area of virtual patient care tool development and implementation.
  • Be hands-on and engaged with the project team, driving multiple technical lanes simultaneously and prioritizing appropriately.
  • Interface with Physicians/customers to obtain product and design feedback.
  • Provide clear communication to stakeholders at key technical updates.
  • Understand integration of patient diagnostic technologies into EMR or patient care tool for tracking human physiology, clinical use cases and user interface requirements to drive design decisions.
  • Develop a strong internal and external network, leveraging that network to deliver results on critical programs.
  • Provide technical guidance to technicians/entry/mid-level engineers.
  • Collaborate across process development, quality, manufacturing, regulatory, clinical, and marketing on complex projects to ensure project success.
  • BS in Mechanical, Biomedical, or similar Engineering field.
  • Required minimum years of work experience (primarily in medical device or related field): 2+ years with BS.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical solutions on a large-scale development program.
  • Strong technical knowledge and experience in the integration of patient diagnostic devices.
  • Solid clinical knowledge and experience in physiological monitoring.
  • Experience managing technical aspects of projects as a member of a cross-functional team.
  • Ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on technical inputs from multiple and varied sources.
  • A proven ability to deliver robust technical solutions to complex engineering problems.
  • MS in related technical field.
  • Class II or Class III Medical Device product development experience.
  • Advanced experimental design and statistical analysis knowledge.
  • Knowledge and experience in advanced prototyping and fabrication techniques.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and collaboration skills.
