The R&D Engineer I is responsible for the timely completion of assignments under the supervision of a more senior staff member. The assignments may be stand-alone projects or part of a more complex research project. The incumbent may on occasion coordinate the work of a technician. The R&D Engineer I is expected to contribute ideas for new projects, processes, and applications.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a four-year college or university is required (Chemical Engineering or equivalent degree).
• 0-2 years of Industrial R&D experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Accurately documents work and findings in lab notebooks and in written reports.
• Interfaces with sales teams and customers as needed to learn and understand customer needs and drivers for new product development.
• Stays abreast of new developments and technologies in the field.
• Plans, conducts, and executes laboratory- and full-scale development activities.
• Conducts field work for manufacturing and customer support on an as needed basis.
• Must be up to date on all required safety training and adhere to safety policy during the course of work.
