The objective of the Student Programs at Nexteer Automotive is to select students with high potential and provide them with "real world" work experiences. Work assignments expose students to many of the company’s products, processes and procedures. Assignments are designed to assimilate acquired classroom education with actual hands-on work experience in a technical environment. We are looking for an inquisitive, highly self-motivated individual who is eager to learn and has good attention to detail and time management skills. This position is responsible for electric drive control analysis, modeling and test for electromechanical actuators and sensors. The ideal candidate will be eager to apply and explore their skills in simulation, implementation, and verification. Description: Responsible for motor control system analysis, modeling, and design of electric motor drive systems. Develops mathematical models and implements control algorithms for various types of electrical machines and advanced power converters. Knowledge of power converter commutation/switching techniques for advanced semiconductor topologies Verifies and calibrates motor control characteristics Validation of motor control characteristics on laboratory dynamometers Provides technical expertise for projects incorporating complex electromechanical (“Mechatronic”) systems Verifies and calibrates modeling tools and corrects deficiencies in designs and prototypes
