About The Position

We have an exciting opportunity to join the WATCHMAN Therapy Optimization team as an R&D Clinical Advisor. This role will support the evolution of procedural techniques, new product introduction, and pre/post procedure imaging. Role is responsible for identifying and informing R&D of clinical unmet needs, supporting the diagnosis of trending field events, and the broad distribution of knowledge and training back into the field team that will ultimately drive improvement in safety, performance, and sales metrics. This role reports into R&D and is based in Maple Grove, MN. The expectation is 3-4 days per month on-site combined with approximately 70% customer-related travel, inclusive of international. You must be willing to travel up to 75% of the time.

Requirements

  • An expert with broad experience and a deep knowledge of LAAC therapy at a national level.
  • Employees must have significant experience within sales to be effective in the implementation of new strategies and initiatives which will require sales leadership buy-in.
  • Expert communicator that can sit on new product development review boards to serve as a voice of customer and ensure that appropriate consideration is given to various design features.
  • Willing to mentor the Research and Development engineering team, as well as the Marketing team, by sharing expertise and providing feedback and guidance.
  • Able to independently define projects and work tasks based on identified strategies and goals.
  • Plans and organizes project assignments of substantial variety and complexity, including project resource requirements, budgets, schedules and milestones.
  • Strong understanding of emerging LAAC workflows and imaging modalities.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a key member of the Field Response Team, supporting virtual and in-person engagements focused on procedural best practices and elevating the clinical outcomes of our implanting physicians and imagers.
  • Supports the launch of new products and new procedural workflows through coordination with R&D and training on development of new training materials as well as monitors and maintains the ongoing effectiveness of the training.
  • Identifies and seeks opportunities to improve and standardize the clinical procedure through the generation and analysis of key performance metrics.
  • Works closely with a multi-disciplined cross-functional team (e.g. R&D, marketing, training, sales, medical, quality) to identify unmet needs and propose solutions to franchise leadership for resources, funding and support.
  • Maintains a direct line of communication between the field sales team and R&D to triage incoming requests and standardize the broad dissemination of information.
  • Responds to customer needs and complaints regarding products and service by performing case reviews and leading R&D level investigations with the goal of presenting the findings back to the physician and supporting field team.
  • Coordinates with BSC sales management, Clinical Managers and other representatives to disseminate clinical information into activities, resources, or projects designed to optimize the therapy.
  • Educates customers on the merits and proper clinical usage of company products by creating and delivering presentations and demonstrations using a wide variety of formats and platforms (e.g., slides, manuals, demos).
  • Meets with existing and potential physicians by traveling to their respective hospitals to identify their clinical needs, goals, and constraints related to patient care.
  • Discuss and train customers on how company products can help them to achieve their goals.
  • Develop relationships with key implanting physicians, referring physicians and external fellows in order to promote market development and growth.
  • Work with sales management to proactively identify tactics that improve the effectiveness and proficiency of the regional sales teams.
  • This individual must also be willing to make frequent visits to the field in order to mentor clinical specialists and discuss emerging practices amongst implanting physicians.
