About The Position

The Associate Chemist position in the Coil division focuses on developing new technologies and platforms in high-performance coatings. This role involves collaboration with a mentor chemist to enhance product quality and performance through experimentation and data analysis, while ensuring compliance with safety and confidentiality standards.

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship.
  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math field.
  • Ability to distinguish colors for accurate paint tinting.
  • Basic computer knowledge for data input, communication, and analysis.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Mathematical knowledge and chemistry knowledge.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Polymers and Coatings.
  • 1 year of industrial coatings chemist lab experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, reformulate, maintain, and enhance products through planning, executing, and analyzing experiments.
  • Display a basic working knowledge of chemicals, raw materials, substrate preparation, and laboratory instruments.
  • Input data, perform data analysis, and maintain technical documentation in lab books or databases.
  • Function under substantial supervision while potentially leading individual or group projects.
  • Utilize advanced technologies to develop products that demonstrate improvements and consumer appeal.
  • Serve as a technical resource for all spray-applied projects.
  • Interact with internal and external customers on technical projects.
  • Perform basic paint-making processes and coating formulations, ensuring they meet manufacturer specifications.
  • Conduct spray applications and physical/performance testing methods.
  • Provide timely and accurate data to resolve field complaints, raw material issues, and manufacturing problems.
