About The Position

This Protective & Marine R D Associate Chemist will be responsible for completion of Development and Commercialization activities for the United States and Canada. The associate chemist position is accountable for providing timely and accurate solutions to multiple company problems of low to moderate complexity. Primary responsibilities include leading and supporting new product development projects across a wide range of market segments. Additional responsibilities include collaborating with the P&M technical team to support projects in the areas of color development, quality support for current product lines, continuous improvement initiatives, technology transfers, and raw material support. Job duties include contact with other employees and access confidential and proprietary information and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. The Company therefore has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and is necessary to protect the safety of the Company's staff, employees, and business relationships. This role will report to Sherwin-Williams Morikis Global Technology Center located at 6745 Miller Road, Brecksville, OH 44141.

Requirements

Must be legally authorized to work in the country for which you are applying for employment (without now or in the future needing sponsorship for employment work visa and/or permanent residence status).
Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math field.
Must be at least 18 years of age.

Nice To Haves

Internship, co-op. or previous experience in coatings related industry.
1 - 3 years epoxy-based or industrial coating experience.

Responsibilities

Designs and executes experiments, draws conclusions, and makes recommendations with support.
Maintaining accurate and detailed documentation of lab work and providing written updates and presentation of technical materials.
Communicates with other departments/functions and develops a network of resources.
Function under supervision, able to design experiments with support, and write reports with limited review.
Accountable for contributing solutions to projects.
Communicate detailed ideas concisely through written communication by writing technical reports.
Comply with and display knowledge of all safety and security regulations and maintain a clean work area.
Travel for technical conferences and product commercialization support.
Provide outside customer service.
Adhere to company safety standards at all times.
Adheres to quality standards in accordance with the Global Business Management System.
