About the position

Join INVISTA as an R D Analytical Technologist where you'll be a member of a collaborative research team taking direction from one or more scientists to develop, execute, analyze, and document analytical results to achieve research program goals. This position is based at our Texas Technology Center in Katy, Texas. As part of the Houston metro area, our nearly 40,000 square-foot facility serves as a hub for technology and research and development. The role follows a 9/80 schedule, providing you with the flexibility of having every other Friday off.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and refining analytical methods (including sample preparation, separations, etc.)
  • Implementing new analytical methods for characterization of unique substances
  • Performing analytical equipment setup, calibration, and maintenance
  • Monitoring and troubleshooting of analytical instrumentation and equipment
  • Performing statistical analysis of data and preparing and presenting associated reports
  • Sampling and performing routine chemical analysis, including common analytical instruments such as Gas Chromatography (GC) and Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), in support of these lab-scale reaction systems
  • Writing detailed procedures for the safe and proper operation of such equipment
  • Maintain written documentation of experiments and data, providing preliminary statistical analysis of data and interpretation of analytical results, and preparing written reports
  • Following prescribed safe work practices for handling chemicals in use and operation of equipment and related systems

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a degree in a closely related discipline with 2 years ‘relevant experience working in a research analytical lab
  • Experience in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint including but not limited to creating charts, formatting cells/formulas, creating presentations and reports
  • Experience in basic analytical laboratory skills with a strong emphasis on and maintaining a safety-oriented approach
  • Experience in instrument calibration and analytical method development

Nice-to-haves

  • Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) knowledge
  • Master's degree in chemistry
  • Knowledge of on-line analyzers
  • Laboratory experience in the operation and maintenance of instrumentation in areas such as ICP-(MS/OES), HPLC, GC, and GC-MS
